Ever woken up one morning and realised that your dream – you know, The Dream – was never going to be anything else?

It happened to me in March this year.

I’m Helen MacKenzie, an aspiring Scottish author. I’ve been a lawyer, a wife and a mother. I’ve been a sailor, an administrator and a blogger. I’ve run my own business and written two (unmarketable) books. But my dream – to write a book and get it published – is still a dream.

Life, work, laziness: there are many reasons why I’ve put off trying again. And there are many reasons why I might not succeed. But I know that I will always regret it, if I do not give it another shot.

So I’m going for it: I have a book in my head, and I’m going to do all I can to get it right this time.

If I find out anything useful along the way, I’ll let you know…
